The Christmas Mystery Quilt for 2006
~ :: what you will need :: ~

Welcome to solve this year’s Christmas Mystery Quilt.

This mystery comes in three parts. The final clues will be in the last part, of course.

This year’s Mystery Quilt was inspired by a walk on a sandy beach scattered with leaves, - the greyish sandy colors sprinkled with the fall colors of the leaves, like dark yellow, red, orange and some brown.

My choice of colors is therefore a light greyish brown (or light tan) for the background, a couple of pieces with moss green, a couple of pieces of yellow, and then lots of small pieces in assorted red – orange - brown colors with no less than four different choices, - something like this:

Here is what you will need of fabric and batting to solve each clue on your way to solve the whole Mystery Quilt.

  • Background - a greyish brown: Ύ yd x 42” (55 cm x 110cm)

  • Moss green: 8” x 12” (20cm x 30 cm)

  • Red/ pink: 3 ½” x 5” (ca 10cm x 12cm).

  • Yellow: 4” x 12” (10cm x 30cm)

  • Assorted colors of red, orange, brown: at  least a total of 8” x 16” (20cm x 40cm)

Batting and backing: ca 16” x 55” (ca 40cm x 140cm)
Cotton thread and quilting thread that goes with the project.
Binding: Estimate fabric for a binding that will be about 130” / 325cm long.

The first clue will be up at November 15.

We’d love to see you solve it,

Merete Veian
